Very true. There are many ugly scenarios we could all envision.

I’ve heard that mixed sex crews on navy ships sometimes result in pregnancies aboard ship. I think we all know what must have been going on. A navy ship on deployment can be isolated for months at a time, and things can happen.

Exactly. I’ve been wondering whether or not “we,” i.e., NASA, should be doing this. Maybe they should start preparing a 6-year-old girl? Brainwash her and send her off to Mars in 2033, where she’ll have almost zero chance of returning, according to most people in the know, or so I’ve heard.

Saw that in college dorm life where a girl dumped one boyfriend and took up sleeping nights with his roommate

Things WILL happen. Propinquity is a thing. I actually believe that cop partners, office partners, etc should be same sex. Same with military, an attempt to acknowledge real biology while still allowing women to serve. Even married (to others) men and women thrown together to work closely will develop attractions that can be too hard to resist. It’s not good for families.

She’s a 17 year old kid with a dream.

What in the hell is wrong with that?

Well, that is kind of normal for college kids. I don’t find that as wrong as married coworkers hooking up with one another or cops forced to spend the whole day with a hot woman not his wife.

Even I did that roommate switch once; it was awkward but we all lived. It’s a dumb thing for young people to learn from.

How many 3 year olds grasp the vastness of Earth, let alone space?

I compare it to the 3 year olds that self identify as transgender.

That depends. It’s going to take 20 years of constant training to get her ready to go to Mars, so starting her out at 17 is a good age.

As long as there are no illusions about what needs to be done, I’m fine with this.

There’s nothing wrong with having a dream.

Actualizing this dream will likely spell her doom.

By 2033 we will have sophisticated robots with AI and probably faster ships.

I read years ago about the woman who was rescued from the Antartica research station and there is only a 3 day window 2x in the year where a plane can make the attempt to either re-supply or pick-up..

Fats forward she goes on a Tv tour. She stated that mixed groups CANNOT stay celibate. We humans are programmed to “bang”. She even stated that the first week she was there, the guys hitting on her and even the married women (to boredom and isolation) managed to have sexcapades with the other crew members... it is what it is.

This whole thing is not happening.

Publicity stunt. She’s not going to Mars.

The girl is 17. How many 17 year olds grasp it?

Do YOU grasp it?

Did John Glen grasp it? did Neal Armstrong grasp it?

This is the explorer spirit, something you obviously know nothing about.

The announced new nomenclature for the organ you mentioned is now, “Front Stick”.

Wow.

The real world example, of the isolated South Pole research stations, give us a clue what will happen on a long trip to Mars.

Most likely. But that does not subtract from her dream

That was akin to my thought. Such a mission will be, likely, the entire body of work of a lifetime for whoever. I wish the young lady luck.
