When I first saw Braveheart I hadn’t seen McGoohan in anything since The Prisoner, and didn’t recognize him in character. I said to Mrs. Hugin “That actor who played Longshanks was great”.

She said, “He used to be in that TV show where he got chased around by a big bubble”.

“Ohhh, Patrick McGoohan. No wonder he was great.”

“I concur wholeheartedly with you about Scarlet and her motivation.”

Yes, then the alternative endings would have worked for Scarlett ;) All my ex-GF’s hated what i said about Scarlett lol thinking she was the heroine of the new age..

This is the iconic George Raft gangster as he's remembered, flipping the coin:

I remember him in a film where he got smacked in the face and he jus replied "Thanks".

During my snotty teen phase, my old man smacked me across the face and I said "Thanks". He smacked me again so hard my head rang. I thought "That never happened to George Raft!"

It was about then that I began to suspect that what I saw in the movies did not necessarily reflect real life.

As I recall from long ago:

He did about 35 Shakespeares in one year, circa 1955.

Orson Welles worked with him back then, and found his talent awe-inspiring.

His first spoken screen line was in Dam-Busters.

He could do just about any quasi-British accent.

He is actually natural-born American.

And, yes, he would have made a great Bond.

It worked for Johann Sebastian Bach: 3rd choice for Cantor of St. Thomas’ Church.

You’ve never been in that position. It had a major impact on me when I first saw it.

Wow-—that’s high praise for McGoohan-—coming from a film legend.
