That they had hemp in their teeth does not make them stoners.

The hemp plant for fiber is not the same as a hemp plant for THC (stoners). There is cannabis ruderalis (hemp), cannabis sativa (THC), and cannabis indica (THC). There are also various hybrids that produce mostly or nearly exclusively the medicinal CBD. Cannabis ruderalis has essentially no THC and if you smoked it you'd probably either feel nothing or get a headache.

I must add to your post: In recent years, Siberian Ruderalis hemp has been purposely cross bred into cannabis because it has a unique quality that pot growers value.

That quality is the autoflowering trait.

Normally, pot must go under a light regime of 12 hours on/12 hours off to induce flowering.

The autoflowering trait removes that requirement.
