I liken it even more to indulging anorexia.
Anorexics think they are fat. They are staggeringly thin but they think they are fat and won’t eat.
Do we agree with them, talk about how chubby they are, praise them for eating a lettuce leaf with mustard for lunch? How cruel would that be.
No we gently and persistently tell them, no Ann, you are very thin. You must eat. You are deluding yourself. Please eat.
Excellent example. I think a great line would be this:
“Treating a transgender person as though their condition is normal is like agreeing with a dangerously thin person with Anorexia that they are fat.”
