Loeb posits that these massive bursts of energy might actually be a part of a near-light-speed propulsion system not unlike the solar sails mankind is currently experimenting with. A planet-sized power source could potentially release a massive burst of energy that propels a spacecraft like wind on a sail. Based on the amount of energy released in each burst, Loeb says they could propel a craft that weighs millions of tons at velocities that are approaching the speed of light.

Ah, the familiar "might be" coupled with the reflexive good alien explanation. These energy bursts also might be the signature of the death star, with each massive burst of energy marking the destruction of another rebel planet. It will require much additional research to confirm or disprove this conjecture, but in the meantime, the precautionary principle clearly requires that we shut down all electromagnetic emissions on Earth to mask ourselves from this potential threat. The EU is especially keen on this; I would expect them to act immediately. This evidence, after all, is already far more compelling than the scientific case against GMO's, and the precautionary principle, we are told, is a moral imperative.

FRB 121102 “... a dwarf galaxy over 3 billion light-years from Earth”

so that would be billions not millions of years ago. If these FRBs are artificial, the culture that generated them has long either perished or sublimed ...

Or, traveling at near speed of light, they may be just about ready to arrive in our solar system because all the aliens races always seem to pick our star out of the billions of others in this galaxy.

Or, they could be going to another galaxy entirely.

If that were the case, they would almost be here....if heading in this direction....time to keep our eyes open.....;-)
