I’m sticking with the normal keep stocked up on Non-perishables, canned, dried, Toilet flushing H2O, got Firewood abf. Had plenty of Meat in the Deep Freezer until it DIED so screwed there, just got the Fridge/Freezer and the conundrum is MEAT or Ice Cream ? Got canned meat so Ice Cream wins the Freezer space. Milk here gets used fast between Grampa, Grandma and Lil’ Buddy (Grandson) 5-6 Gallons @ week. The only way to fix that is get a Goat and/or Cow. Goats produce more than Cows, so...
I’ll continue with stocking up on ammo. If the SHTF for real and gets UGLY lead will be worth more than platinum, gold or silver IMO.

This is supposed to be a free Country. You think they should be arrested for not evacuating? I do agree the state should go in and rescue the children and keep them safe until after the storm but if someone wants to ride it out even unto the point of death, they have that right. Just no emergency services to rescue during the storm.
It’s not worth the lives of rescuers to pull “hold my beer” losers from a hurricane that they chose not to escape.
Another part of the plan is knowing if you have big trees surrounding your house.

The storm was “downgraded” according to the Saffir Simpson scale, which primarily measures wind speed.
There were many, many warnings about the the risks of flooding, both from storm surge and rainfall. Those warnings also emphasized the great risk of inland flooding from rivers and streams.
I live in Central Virginia, and lots of people here were very concerned about what could happen here.
There is very little excuse for anyone who had the ability to leave, and chose not to.
So very sensible. I pray that your home survives and that aid and assistance is available for you to have a good return. Keep us posted as your common sense approach is more valuable than any journalist’s clap-trap.

I’m so sorry. Praying for you and all victims of this terrible storm. It hits home when it really is your own home, belongings, town and your very way of life. And your personal safety and well being following such tragedy. Those who have never been in the depths cannot understand. I have not been through your particular situation but I have been through deep misery and I at least understand that helpless frightened feeling. Bless you and please keep us updated on how you are. Stay strong. You can get through this.
