Earlier this summer, Christine Blasey Ford wrote a confidential letter to a senior Democratic lawmaker alleging that Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than three decades ago, when they were high school students in suburban Maryland. Since Wednesday, she has watched as that bare-bones version of her story became public without her name or her consent, drawing a blanket denial from Kavanaugh and roiling a nomination that just days ago seemed all but certain to succeed.
Now, Ford has decided that if her story is going to be told, she wants to be the one to tell it.
Speaking publicly for the first time, Ford said that one summer in the early 1980s, Kavanaugh and a friend — both “stumbling drunk,” Ford alleges — corralled her into a bedroom during a gathering of teenagers at a house in Montgomery County.
While his friend watched, she said, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it. When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth.
“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” said Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”

If the other guy says he was there, Kav is toast.
However, I think he should still be confirmed. Even if every word is true. He and his friend pushed her onto a bed, attempted drunkenly to pull of her bathing suit, covered her mouth with a hand, in high school? Dumb stunt but I bet we have had many people on the Supreme Court who did worse in high school.
If he were credibly accused of raping a 4 year old or murdering someone, we could talk. There was no rape, no attempted rape. These boy school boys didn’t know what they were doing; they were being boorish and unkind. They were drunk kids. They didn’t pursue any crimes.
(And I don’t like Kavanaugh - but even if he were a leftist, I don’t think high school horny drunk boys playing at a party is reason not to confirm.)
What I’m saying is that a woman made a claim that cannot be confirmed in any way, refuses to identify herself, and is then forced to come forward when the story is made public.
I feel that in both cases, they were just making it up as they went along. In Anita’s case, I think she just said on a job application, under “reason for leaving last job” after she left Thomas’ office, “sexual discrimination”, so she didn’t have to say she was fired. Then some reporter dug it up, and she didn’t want to share it publicly (for obvious reasons) but they said they would break it publicly, with or without her. And the rest is history.
I have little doubt there is a similar theme here, especially when you consider how this story was broken.
BTW, memory can play tricks on your. I’ve told people for years about my daughter getting her broken arm fixed back in the early 90’s at a clinic. I just found out last month that it was her ankle. It is possible this thing happened to this girl, or something like it, but it wasn’t Kavanaugh. The story just morphed in her own brain over the years, and here we are. But that is just giving her at least SOME benefit of the doubt.
I blame the politicians and press more than I blame her or Anita.
It's hearsay as to any issue of fact.

Hey, Christine, that says a whole lot about you knowingly going over to an underage booze party wearing nothing but a swimsuit. How drunk were you then and since if you can’t remember much about what should have been one of the most memorable events in your life? Seriously, no teen party ever serves one beer. Such a snowflake if the non-rape incident somehow messed up your entire live and you haven’t gotten over it for some 40 years - and yes, I’m a woman so am allowed to poo poo this non-incident/outright lie. It is often considered a badge of honor for sjw’s to produce a first firson narrative of a tranformational experience that led them to become a social activist. Sometimes professors grade social justice related (in a broad sense) courses on the basis of the students ability and willingness to produce such stories. Sjw professors recite their own personal horror experiences to students. The professors and the students social networks are all but guaranteed to amplify and validate their experiences. And Woe unto any conservative male who dares challenge such a story in public.
