Winners like Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisels Rachel Brosnahan, Seven Seconds Regina King, Barrys Henry Winkler, Westworlds Thandie Newton, The Americans Mathew Rhys, The Crowns Claire Foy and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Storys Darren Criss may be making shelf space for their new trophies after celebrating last night but for NBC, the 70th Primetime Emmys maybe a hangover thats hard to shake.

I looked at a slideshow of the attendees’ clothes. Meh. All the money in the world, but, with a few exceptions, no taste.
The Emmy Awards were on? Really?
Award ceremonies are given for lots of professions, but others are expected to watch them.
They still give awards for that trash?
Emmy Awards, where the nonproductive go to celebrate their peers.
Didn’t even know it was on.
Hollywood...the low hanging fruit of US culture.. from people who fake it for a living 24/7 and act and dress like clowns in a parade.
Clothes? Hollywood is all about showing as much skin as possible while trying hard not to look like hookers. The only difference in what hollywood wears and street gals is the price tag on their garment.
That was my immediate reaction, as well.
I think it’s the growth of YouTube, partly.
There was a really good “Andy Griffith Show” rerun on, or I sure woulda’ watched it. \sarc
Somehow Handmaid’s Tale and the SNL actors got shut out.
Very few in Hollyweird deserve ANY award, except perhaps the “Rug Chewing During An Award Show”, “Worst Foul Language of The Year”, “Most Perverted Sex Act Making It Past The Censors”, “Most Adult Humor In A Children’s Movie”, and “The Political Vapors of the Decade” Awards. (Don’t know your era, but the “rug chewing” refers to over-acting, rather than the apparent sexual reference I see, frequently being made, here.)
But then the author veers into this:"Since the Pulitzer Prize-winning Harvey Weinstein investigations first published, kickstarting the #MeToo movement, only men have hosted every major award show: the Golden Globes (Seth Meyers), the Oscars (Jimmy Kimmel), and now the Emmys. While were railing against tone-deafness, this is a decision that should be at the top of the list."
So they talked too much about diversity, but not enough about diversity. This is why Hollywood is so bad. Even when their own people can see how boring their schtick is they still say it needs to be amped up.
Have not watched it since 1989.
10 million is still incredible in todays landscape l. Im surprised that many watched especially on Monday night. I forgot they were on. Heard it was trump and kavenaugh hatefest.
“The Emmy Awards were on? Really?”
no kidding ...
Yawn to all those pat myself on the back shows.
