“Rumor has it that Anderson Cooper got bucked off a wild stallion.”

In his assless chaps.

One of my Daughter’s favorite books is “Misty of Chincoteague”. We later saw the movie.

I think they are a little bit smaller than the N.C. ones.

In the 50s we would camp/vacation on Cape Hatteras, way before there was a bridge or paved road on the north end. we would cross over to Ocracoke to see the horses and ship wrecks on the beach. We always had stuff to feed the horses mainly carrots. The horses would stick their heads in the car to get fed and would follow us around to hoping for more. The horses close to town were so tame that the kids would come out put a rope bridle on them and ride them bareback.

They’re doing some living after they’ve died.

There are numerous shipwrecks on the beach that have been uncovered by the storm, go to either the Village Craftsmen blog or their Facebook page to see pics, pretty cool.

They’ve been there for 500 years. They’ve survived without access to the weather channel and in spite of the do gooder humans that think they’re helping them

Haven’t heard about the horses on Shackleford Island at the south end of the Outer Banks. Close to Beaufort ( Boh-fert) NC.
Much closer to the eye of Florence.

We have several wood carvings of those horses.

Several of the beach towns have brought in vets experienced with wild horse populations, some even flying them in from out west, and sending them by boat to uninhabited nearby islands with herds to check on them. I haven’t heard anything but good news thus far. The wild horse population pretty much stops at Carrot Island by Beaufort, and Cedar Island to the north, so they weren’t in the worst part of the storm anyway. There are none south of there to my knowledge.
