One of the most underrated bands of the 20th century. With the most underrated drummer of the era.

their live performances were spectacular.

I’ve always enjoyed Blondie. Parallel Lines was probably my favorite of their albums. Good songs, and great production.
Listen to “The Tide Is High” intro. Hear the Mariachi brass section. Well done! It transports me to some tropical island vacation spot.

I never did really know much about the men in that group, and wouldn’t know who was who by their photos alone.
I often wondered how they felt being known mostly as Debbie Harry’s back up band. Not a bad gig. Sort of like any members of the group Police who were not named Sting. or U2 with Bono.
At least they toured, recorded for a few years and had a number of big hits. Most musical groups never get any where near that level of fame or cultural influence.

Oh, THAT Blondie. I thought you were talking about Blondie being married to Dagwood being the hardest part...

And Harry is an excellent singer. She’s still performing.

She’s still good but the woman is 73 and doesn’t have the belt she used to - she clearly got better from about ‘75 — ‘79.

Wish I had bothered to go see them back then. Used to be a line out of CBGB’s a mile long, I just didn’t want to stand in it, and the place was dis-gusting.

Liked this album better than Parallel Lines (which is still a great album, mind you). The two albums after this one (Auto-American and I forget the name of the other one) had their moments, but clearly the band was starting to fade and was wise to call it quits. I know they are back together, but it is hard to rekindle the energy of your younger days.

Sometimes, you just can’t capture lighting in a bottle twice.
Be glad that the ‘Magic’ ever happened at all.
Your biggest fans get older, and are never going to be quite as excited about the music as they were the first time it was played. Plus, the voice ages. Even the great singer Joan Baez is planning to retire next year.

That’s probably why certain other groups have never reformed in the same way they were originally.
Abba, Led Zeppelin,

Isn’t the whole point of naming your band Blondie is because of your front woman? That’s the first time I ever saw her as a brunette. That said, she was hot....
