Judge Steven T. O’Neill made the decision Tuesday, the second day of the sentencing hearing in Norristown, Pa., court — saying, “I’m not permitted to treat him any differently based on who he is or who he was.” He also ruled that Cosby is a “sexually violent predator” and fined him $25,000.

The sentence means that Cosby, once known as “America’s Dad,” will spend at least three years behind bars and then will become eligible for supervised release, although that’s not guaranteed. According to journalist Bobby Allyn who was in the courtroom, the judge will not grant bail and the comedian is expected to be taken away to a cell shortly

Well, I don't know what to make of this. Honestly, if he's guilty he deserves his punishment. But do we really want to incarcerate 80 year old blind men? It's going to cost a small fortune to take care of him in jail for 3 years. I understand the Judge's rationale and agree, but it still seems like a waste of procedure to me.

Yep. Should have been time served, if any. This is dumb.

At least it proves that there is justice in this country for all but the victims of Democratic politicians.

He’s not really blind.

I remember when that would have been a capital crime. Cosby deserves the most severe punishment.

Back in the late 60s I had one of his albums. He was a great story teller. Some of his athletic stories were both funny and you knew he had actually been there and done that.

I am surprised that he did not kill any of those women with his drug and alcohol cocktails.

I’m happy to say that I NEVER considered Cosby ‘America’s Dad’. Unlike Cosby, my dad had morality.

Thank goodness you were neither a judge nor a juror.

Yes, we want him behind bars where he belongs. I couldn’t care less how old or blind he is.

Just rot BC.

Why? Put him under house arrest and let him pay his own way. Now the taxpayers of PA will have to support his blind ass in jail and in 3 years he’ll be free.

Cosby was a predator but now, at 81 and legally blind, sending him to prison for at least three years seems a bit excessive. If the goal is have Cosby die in prison, it will likely be met.

I’m sure Cosby will be sent to a low-security prison and not be placed with the general population. His wealth will allow him some amenities and medical care but his name and reputation have been totally destroyed by his sex crimes.

Dying in prison is his ultimate humiliation/punishment and about the worst the justice system can do him.

Blind my ass! The news had a picture of him walking into the courthouse the other day and he was pointing to someone in the crowd.

What about all those women he raped while they were passed out on his happy biscuit pills? He said in a deposition years ago he did this to women.

Don’t care if he is blind, those women he raped were blind too in a sense. Also his wife knew he was doing this and did nothing to stop him as long as she had all those billions of dollars. Plus how did he get blind so quick?

"But do we really want to incarcerate 80 year old blind men?"

I tend to agree. I was hoping they'd put this physical and mental cripple under permanent house arrest with a fool-proof ankle bracelet, allowing him out only for medical trips.

This way he'd be forced to spend the hundreds of thou$and$ of his OWN money for his future food and medicine needs, for his other health problems, for his home upkeep and taxes, for his personal maintenance, etc. instead of the innocent taxpayers having to foot his bills till he meets his maker (Old Nick himself)).

This would also obviate and free-up much-needed jail space which could be available for successions of illegal alien criminals.

THAT would make more sense in this particular case.

People who commit crimes wont be deterred if they know they will be able to escape punishment.
