Many years ago, maybe early 80’s I saw a clip on tv. Maybe it was the news, maybe it was that show about funniest home videos. Video was of an old chinese man in china going out to a hilltop in the middle of nowhere and holding his arms out to either side and I think he sang or chanted. Literally hundreds of birds came out of nowhere and landed on his arms. He had no food. They were just stopping to say hi I guess. I looked for it once on the internet but could not find it. It looked like the real deal to me.
That likely was the 16th Gyalwa Karmampa. leader of the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He was famous for it. He had a very special relationship with birds.
