My thoughts as well . . . and easier to catch. Pigeons are birds, like chickens. The cat food shelves are dominated by chicken and chicken flavored cat food, with an occasional sprinkling of fish, salmon and the like.
But I've never seen a rat or mouse flavor on the shelves. I'd say breed red-tailed hawks instead. But how are you going to get them in the subway?
