Only the core base of the Democrat Party will vote for them - the extremists that would have developed this entire harassment campaign will be their only constituent type. Anyone with a scintilla of values does not want to be associated with what happened.
Your wife has sound reasoning. I lean towards this theory myself. Her story seems made up to me, not merely embellished.

The way she and Feinstein showed no emotions when all this came to light and then Ford presented to the Senators shows the two are sociopaths.
Sociopaths are people who have little to no conscience. They will lie, cheat, steal and manipulate others for their own benefit. They know exactly what they are doing, they just don’t care because they don’t think that way. If you are naive enough, they will brainwash you into doing exactly what they say and what they want which is the only time a sociopath is truly happy.
Sociopaths can hide this well if you haven’t known them for long. They’re really nice and charming at first, almost too nice, but it’s extremely fake. The niceness will last until a problem occurs in which they are at fault however, you will be manipulated to believe that you are in the wrong. There is no reasoning with this person. Things have to be their way or it’s the highway. They will blame you for hurting them (even if they’re the ones who hurt you) or blame the world for all their problems (knowing full well they do shitty things in general).
They are compulsive liars and even if they do apologize, it’s never genuine. Most are anti social and have few to no friends because most people around them don’t want to associate with them. However the sociopath will again tell you that “people hate me for no reason/the world is against me”. The only person who will put up with a sociopath is someone who is off their rocker or someone who has absolutely no self respect, or both of those two combined.

Why in God’s name would 17 year old boys be hanging around with 15 year old girls. More than likely they had girl friends at the time. Kavanaugh mentions a couple girls on his calendar. They sure weren’t hunting 15 year olds.
Any guy who has ever dated a woman for a while, or been married to her for at least six months, knows full well that WOMEN NEVER FORGET ANYTHING.
I’ve been married for almost 42 years now, and my wife can still instantly recall something stupid I said in my 20s. And that was about a magazine subscription, or something so inane that I have NO memory of it, whatsoever.
For about 35 years, she’s sold floor covering; right now she can accurately describe just about every house she’s ever been in to measure for floor covering...even houses she was in back in the 80s. Houses where nothing more remarkable than the square footage was important to her.
Now surely - if she’s sane - Christine Blasey Ford could remember the house where she was “sexually assaulted”. To me, that would be a glaring memory. I even remember where I was, and who I was with, the day Kennedy was killed.
This woman (Ford) is a basket case. I was always skeptical about people with multiple personalities (like “Three Faces of Eve”, and “Sybil”), but now I’m a believer. I think her therapist summoned “baby Crissy” to “come out” for the hearing...she certainly tried to come off that way.
Investigate HER and HER credibility...Kavanaugh has led a life of honor, and already had his credibility FBI investigated six time...the weakest link in this chain is Christine Blasey Ford.
Period.

Everyone involved in this stunt, including Feinstein, Whitehouse, Waters, and Jackson-Lee, need to go to jail for this.
I’m hearing it was HER house, a half mile from the Country Club her dad was President of. Which was the point of the maps. HER HOUSE wasn’t on the maps.
Ford certainly appeared mentally unstable on the television in spite of all the “pattycake” well orchestrated questions she was fed.
Unfortunately your wife’s opinion means as little as anyone else you’d pick from the street.

“dr.” ford’s life is now made in the shade for the rest of her life. She will be feted, wined and dined as a lefty hero. She will hit the lecture circuit for exorbitant fees. She has multiple gobegme campaigns that are probably total in excess of $1 million (which is enough for her to retire on).
Her life will just get better and better as a Hero of the People.
For a 2 minute event that happened 40 years ago most women by now would have just learned from and moved on. Ir (more likely) a lie she constructed into her mind from something she heard/read happened to someone else — which is ever BETTER for her.

I think it is also very odd that having just written up a description of events for Feinstein, only a week later she could no longer call them to mind more closely than the “polygraph letter”.
The only semi-plausible excuses are that she has a genuinely poor memory - which doesn’t help her case; and that she was stressed from her grandmother’s funeral.
A polygraph distinguishes between stress states and non-stress states, and was given in a time period where her base stress state would be high...rendering the polygraph invalid even for that.
