China is a danger, but not in the simplistic: omy my gosh they’re commies way. Consider Chinese police only began arming themselves in 2014, and not everywhere, because of threats of terrorism. There is a strong distinction, between police and military and unlike our examples, police there are very friendly, do not wear combat attire as they now do in America and many western nations, starting with their dress shoes.
Chinese society is conservative, very restrictive, and punitive, but so is Singapore and everyone lauds their future modeling.
China is primarily an economic danger, and they do behave as economic colonialists... willing to go to parts of the world no other nations have interest in. The effects of all their artificial social programs and constrictions will have future issues, but their political energy is still primarily focused on economic expansion...See their new silk road initiative.
>police there are very friendly
yes , but they also insist you ‘load the app’, or get arrested.
“Consider Chinese police only began arming themselves in 2014”
Not sure that has to do with the topic, but more importantly it’s wrong.
People’s Armed Police (officially named in 1982) have always been the authority since the founding of the PRC.
“There is a strong distinction, between police and military”
The armed police were an arm of the PLA.
They always have authority over local police.
The military is used in policing, June 4 is the most well known example.
