LONDON (Reuters) - Britain’s national cyber security agency said on Friday it had no reason to doubt the assessments made by Apple and Amazon that challenged a Bloomberg story that their systems contained malicious computer chips inserted by Chinese intelligence.

Bloomberg Businessweek on Thursday cited 17 unnamed intelligence and company sources as saying that Chinese spies had placed computer chips inside equipment used by around 30 companies, as well as multiple U.S. government agencies, which would give Beijing secret access to internal networks.

“We are aware of the media reports but at this stage have no reason to doubt the detailed assessments made by AWS and Apple,” said the National Cyber Security Centre, a unit of Britain’s eavesdropping agency, GCHQ

The UK is a member of the Five Eyes nations who share intelligence information. . . and would know if there were such a major intelligence invasion of computer servers built in China.

Those Five Eyes nations are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Here we are hearing from the GCHQ of the UK, and their NCSC, National Cyber Security Centre the UK's version of our NSA. . . which is the agency that is tied directly to the Five Eyes organization.

“Britain’s national cyber security agency said on Friday it had no reason to doubt”

Thats not a denial. Besides what else would they say. Besides its not like the UK security services have a handle on protecting their own country from jihadis, why should they be any more effective vs China.

I also don’t understand your puffed-chest exhortations about how important Five Eyes is, as if thats going to make this mealy mouth “no reason to doubt” to appear that it is a real denial (it isn’t.. )

This is FreeRepublic. WE DON’T TRUST BIG CORPORATIONS run by millionaire / billionaire Leftists, or BIG GOVTS, OR AMALGAMS of their security services.

Too many double negatives there. Can you translate? Is there a problem or not?

Good point. . . but in THREE YEARS since their discovery by both Apple and Amazon, there has been nothing said about these chips supposedly on server motherboards made in China. Not a single word in any security bulletin. Zip. Nada. That is simply not a believable scenario.

You know, BT, it is not MY problem that you are ignorant. The Five Eyes are the intelligence Agencies of the five nations I listed working together and SHARING data. They also willingly spy on each others' citizens so they can get around their respective laws prohibiting such domestic activity and share THOSE data. Try to learn something before you expose your ignorance of the interconnectedness of the Intelligence Agencies. . . and insult those of us who DO KNOW with accusations of "puffed-chest exhortations" in the same sentence where you claim you "don't understand." That is the height of arrogance.

A claim of "no reason" to doubt IS agreement with Apple and Amazon. What part of "No" do you fail to grasp? No doubt you were in agreement with the Democrats who would not accept the statements of the people who said they did NOT see anything in reference to Judge Kavanaugh. That is also a "No evidence" statement as in this case. They have NO EVIDENCE to dispute Apple's and Amazon's claims, yet you are wiling to believe the Main Stream Media's single source Bloomberg Businessnews, who has published FAKE NEWS before, citing seventeen anonymous sources whom they refuse to name both in the government and at Amazon and Apple as saying these events happened THREE YEARS AGO?

The UK's NSCS and the GCHQ buy thousands of servers and have in the THREE YEARS since Amazon and Apple supposedly discovered these chips on Supermicro motherboards in the summer of 2015 THE UK agencies HAVE NOT FOUND evidence of such a malicious chip and if there were a chip they would HAVE evidence one exists.

Would they lie? Of course they would. They are the equivalent of the NSA for the UK. . . but YOU feel the need to denigrate them.

But, BT, so far no other user of the servers has come forward to say #metoo. . . I found a chip on my servers. That's pretty damn good evidence this is FAKE NEWS from serial fake news publisher Bloomberg.
