That is interesting as Chile is a stable and prosperous country and Argentina has been a basket case for generations.

Actually, in the early 20th century Argentina was one of the most prosperous countries in the world. That’s why so many Europeans emigrated there. Later, Argentinian politicians became too ambitious and thought they could improve things by spending more money. But it was Juan Peron who destroyed Argentina with his form of fascism.

I think Chile has always been relatively decent as far as Latin America is concerned. Then, in the 1970s, Chile almost fell to communism. Fortunately, Augusto Pinochet stopped the commies. He invited American economists, who were Milton Friedman’s followers, to help him reform the Chilean economy. The government’s interventions in the economy were reduced. Chile began to prosper. Unfortunately, in recent years there have been some left-leaning governments so Chile isn’t as pro-market as it once was any more.

I know the history.

But you would think such a smart group could have picked it's self up. They never did. Never even tried. Even with the major influx of all those so superior Germany genes.

Chile has almost advanced to first world status and probably will be there in a decade. They want it real bad.
