Anybody remember a picture of a bunch of gun parts assembled, scary looking, no barrel or receiver?

There was no receiver or barrel, and I doubt a magazine.

I recall a picture of a high end camera laid out with parts to look like an AR.

Perhaps you are looking for a lower parts kit like:

I think it was a camera .
Check out this Nikon DSLR rig, which apparently uses a pistol-style grip for triggering the shutter. It seems this kit looks too much like a firearm for the TSAs liking.
The photo appeared on the TSAs Instagram page as an example of something you cant bring onto an airplane.

I have seen it. AR parts with no actual firearm in there, buttstock, shroud, flashlight, optics, grip, etc. Dont have the pic. Sorry.

It was a professional camera and tripod laid out to look like an AR.

No, it wasnt. It may have been an ad in The Rifleman. Check the NRA website. You can be certain Google doesnt search it.

Good thing it wasn’t a Canon.

Even though that lower receiver cannot fire a thing but a camera, it is a considered a firearm by the BATF.
To: doorgunner69
Well, the camera DOES have a burst-mode. :)
