What I want, is to get bit by the spider that bit Spiderman. He got superpowers, and pretty girls.
But, seriously, spider venom that cures cancer? That's the kind of superpower that mankind needs.

I have a son in law who was cured last year from stage 4 cancer with immunotherapy.
In March last year he had less than 1% chance to live a year.
That all changed 1 month later when they started the immonotherapy treatments.
The treatment has him cancer free now.
There are lots of dedicated doctors and researchers working very hard.
I don’t buy the “there is a cure being hidden from us” theory.

You can’t cure malfunction of your own cells. All adults have abnormal cancer cells present in their body, but in most cases the body can recognize them as abnormal and kill them. Cancer patients have lost that ability. Cancer will never be cured, any more than getting old can be cured. Best we can do is slow down growth of cancer tumors or remove them surgically. But since their body has lost the ability to recognize cancer cells, cancer will recur eventually.

I believe a cure was found years and years ago, but for the reasons you mention, itll never, ever treat the public.

Sorry but there is no such thing as “cancer is cured”. Cancer can only go in remission. But it will always return if one lives long enough. See post #24 for more explanation.

Identifying and using biologically active compounds from living organisms is both an intetesting field of study and a good argument for preventing species from extinction.
Economic progress and development and protection of habitat and endangered species can progress together if wisely planned.
They are not mutually exclusive regardless of screams of radicals on both sides.

I rejoice for your SIL, but the ***hard, cold facts*** remain that MILLIONS will lose their jobs, and TRILLIONS of DOLLARS will be lost if a commercially-viable cure is found. Ditto for almost fatal every disease there is.

I had a friend who died last winter who relied on holistic medicine to treat his cancer which started out in the prostate about two years prior.........
During that period he would often brag about how his PSA levels dropped from 4 to 0 not realizing that the cancer was spreading throughout his body........
About 6 months before he died, he had a large tumor removed from his back that was cancerous and it was downhill fast from there......

I’ve always known that Chuck Norris’ tears will cure cancer, but unfortunately Chuck Norris never cries. Good to know they’ve found another source from some crybaby spiders.

The PSA is interesting. The chemical weakens the surface of the egg to allow the sperm in. The chemical, in the body, also weakens other cell surfaces. With cancer, the chemical helps spread by cancer by weakening cell surface defenses.
