I believe a cure was found years and years ago, but for the reasons you mention, it’ll never, ever treat the public.

Yes, like so many other medical “breakthroughs” we’ve seen reported over the years, this will disappear into a black hole.
You can’t cure malfunction of your own cells. All adults have abnormal cancer cells present in their body, but in most cases the body can recognize them as abnormal and kill them. Cancer patients have lost that ability. Cancer will never be cured, any more than getting old can be cured. Best we can do is slow down growth of cancer tumors or remove them surgically. But since their body has lost the ability to recognize cancer cells, cancer will recur eventually.
Along with that secret carburetor that was supposed to get 75 MPG...........

It’s more likely that the doctor who was supposed to find a cure for AIDS has been aborted already.
