Two visitors to a Houston shooting range leaped way over the line when it came to basic gun safety and found themselves escorted out, for good.
Top Gun Range on Beverly Hill Street in Houston posted the shocking video on their social media page this week in hopes it could be a valuable training tool in what not to do when on the line.
“Great job from our Range Safety Officer in stopping and addressing a safety violation on the range,” noted Top Gun before providing the backstory to the short video that shows two patrons clowning around with a handgun while snapping selfies on a mobile device. The unsafe activity finally escalates to one of the men pointing the pistol at the head of his shooting buddy, which brings a quick reaction from the RSO.
“The former customer brought in his own weapon for him and his friend to shoot,” explained Top Gun. “They were given a safety brief and still broke range rules once they went out to shoot. After they were promptly removed from the range, we covered which rules they broke and then banned them for life from the range.
“We take safety very seriously here at Top Gun Range, and we pride ourselves in having the best staff in Texas,” said the range.
Really, really stupid. Never seen anyone do that at our ranges.

I saw that clip yesterday - nice dive on the part of the RSO. Our boy had the gun pointed first at the partition between him and the next lane and then directly at his buddy, and yes, his finger was on the trigger. Count the safety violations. Stop when you run out of numbers...

I have known people that stupid. Suffice it to say I would never be around them and guns at the same time. As a matter of fact no one like them are currently in my circle of friends or acquaintances (that I know of).
I used to RO matches. Most people who attempt shooting at firearms matches are usually pretty aware of the rules and only minor infractions ensue. I usually give newcomers Cooper’s Rules:
RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
People like this are why I go to my range on Sunday mornings before they open to the public.
Even the Chinese, European and canadian tourists follow the rules and behave properly when at a gun range. These are straight up retards.
Reputable gun range. My Dad always taught us never to point a gun at a human being, even unloaded. That pair of imbeciles from California no doubt!

I’ve been corrected on that before. Your target, it’s backstop and what’s behind it is to me, a given.
But I guess that if one is trying to train ignorant gun users it can’t be emphasized enough. Good call.
