I am almost 79. My mother raised purebred Labradors. We all grew up with those dogs all around us.
I bought my first house in 1966 & promptly got a dog. Still have dogs—and quite a variety.
The “WHO DID THIS? “ sternly spoken is the best way to flush out the culprit. The guilty one(s) ALWAYS try to slink away.
