Time for some copyright reform.
Let’s put it back the way it was and put a monster load of stuff in the public domain.
At least put copyrights back to where they were in the Reagan era. Many people don’t realize that the DMCA (1998) was the result of direct payoff by Disney and other media conglomerates.
The US Constitution literally says that copyrights are only to be for “a limited duration,” yet we are in the absurd situation where nothing from 1923 or later has entered the public domain since 1998, meaning that a lot of works have simply been lost because the rights-holders are unknown (meaning that nobody is actually reprinting/republishing the material). This was not the original intent of copyright law.
