Ten takeaways from a Shakeup Saturday in college football: 1) On a day of seismic upsets and stressful escapes in the Top 10, the only way to be safe was to have an open date (Clemson) or be Alabama. And even the untouchable Crimson Tide came away with a limping Heisman Trophy front-runner. It was dangerous out there for the big dogs. Second-ranked Georgia was blown out by 20 at LSU, beaten up and out-executed in Tiger Stadium colleague Pete Thamel has the details of that game here. Sixth-ranked West Virginia was easily dispatched at Iowa State, losing by 16 points to an unranked opponent. Seventh-ranked Washington was too cautious at the end of regulation and lost in overtime at Oregon. Eighth-ranked Penn State never trailed until 19 seconds remained at home against Michigan State, surrendering a 76-yard drive in the final 90 seconds to lose.

Nebraska fans must be hinding their heads...
hiding...
No coffee yet.
Go Cyclones!!
Auburn has always been overranked this year and so was Georgia.
Probably was the black uniforms...
I kind of liked "hinding".
That was a great win. Go Clones!
As a hardcore Bulldog fan, I have to agree with you. To be ranked that high, you have to be dominant. Georgia is far from dominant this year and I was really leery of yesterdays game. The bulldogs came out running, and running well, then for some reason started to pass even though Fromm had nothing. By the time they went back to the run, it was too late.
Florida now really worries me.
How does NE not kick the FG in OT?
Go Ducks
Bama had a bit of an off day. I’m glad they got that out of the way.
It’s good to be Bama. Roll Tide!
Add Clemson to the overanked teams. The played Texas A&M and should have lost. Now theyre playing the usual cupcakes in the ACC.
Q: What does the “N” stand for on Nebraska’s helmets?
A: Knowledge.
It’s essentially turning into Alabama versus possibly the Ohio State versus Michigan winner at the rate things are going.
Nebraska was never the same after defensive coordinator Charlie McBride left, years ago. The Blackshirt defense won many games for the Huskers. Now just a ghost of their former selves.
UAB Blazers homecoming is this week. Now that’s a team that has overcome adversity.
Yeah, I sure thought UGA would win. Big yet young offensive line, lots of running backs, lots of team speed. LSU Stadium 103,000 fans. Lots of crowd noise. Many games yesterday had the home team winning. Just 1 team from SEC going to the 4 team playoff. And of course there is Alabama and all of the rest.
Strange things happening in Lincoln...
However, we see the positive changes occurring even though it's not evident in the win column.
It will take another 2-3 years to flush out the mediocre talent, recruit and develop this team but Nebraska will be back.
I'm a Nebraskan and alum...after waiting for 20 years for the right coach after Osborne, I'll wait a few more for success - GBR!!!
