Why do you dislike McSally from her military service?
I’m curious about that, too.
“Why do you dislike McSally from her military service?”
She received very special treatment for being ‘the first female fighter pilot’. Her career was followed closely by congresswomen. Her lawsuit against the DoD for the rules while traveling off base in places like Saudi Arabia was STUPID. The rules were made for her protection. Further, many of us who served in places like that a heck of a lot more times than she did would have shaved OUR legs and worn a burka to get off base and go somewhere with good food and booze - but we were men, so we didn’t count. And if I had sued the SecDef, over ANYTHING, it would have ended my career. It enhanced hers.
I’ve also never met an A-10 pilot with anything good to say about her. There may be one somewhere, but I never met one!
BTW - I also had a low opinion of ANYONE who got out of the cockpit and went to DC to advise congressmen - in her case, Sen Jon Kyle. I suppose someone has to pull that sort of duty, but like a lot of guys in ops, I thought badly of anyone who even WANTED that sort of duty - political buttkissing, although they then have good careers because of their congressional interest.
So yeah, I had a low opinion of her while she was still on active duty. She was a very politically connected officer awarded duties in excess of her actual experience. IMHO. I’d have cut her some slack if I had ever found an A-10 pilot who spoke highly of her.
Probably ought to add that I will absolutely vote for her in November! Voted for Ward in the primary, but will do whatever it takes to vote for McSally in Nov. I don’t have to like her. She is vastly better, on the issues and as a person, than her opponent! Not even close.
