Mel’s Diner may be reopening its doors: An Alice reboot is in-the-works at Fox, TVLine has learned.

The network has placed a script order for a modern-day version of the classic CBS workplace sitcom starring Linda Lavin. Diablo Cody (United States of Tara) and Liz Astrof (2 Broke Girls) are penning the script for the multi-cam pilot and will serve as EPs.

The Fox revolves around Long Island housewife Alice Hyatt, who has finally worked up the courage to leave her cheating husband. She drives cross-country to Arizona with her teenage son Tommy, and gets a job as a waitress at a roadside diner where the staff becomes their new surrogate family.

In the original Alice — which aired from 1976 to 1985 and was based on the feature film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore — Lavin’s titular waitress fleeing New Jersey herself with her son following the death of her husband.

How about a reboot of Married With Children since they’re all alive, with Kelly coming down the stairs in every episode?

Blazing Saddles! Love that movie!

The reason I abhor All in the Family is I think it was the first TV program that skewered conservatives and elevated liberals. Every show from that moment went down that road

Another Fox show not to watch.

When Fox aired 24, I thought they might carve out a niche as the anti-MSM channel for broadcast series.

I’m glad they picked up Last Man Standing, but everything else they air these days is as crappy as the sh!t on ABC, CBS, and NBC.

They did bring it back as an all-Hispanic show.

I can’t think of anyone who could replace Carroll O’Connor or Jean Stapleton. Meathead and Struthers are easily replaceable.

“The Fox revolves around Long Island housewife Alice Hyatt, who has finally worked up the courage to leave her cheating husband.”

Cheating husband, eh? In the original, he was a hard-working beer truck driver who was killed on the job.

He doesn’t even appear, but they still have to assassinate his character. Just like they did Forrest Gump’s father. In the book, a good man killed on the job; in the movie, a cad who ran out on Forrest and his mother.

FU, Hollywood filth. Reboot anything you like; it will still be miserable because you are low-IQ, low-information, scum-sucking leftwad perverts.

Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore shows up on TCM every now and then.

It’s too much trouble for any one now to watch it.

How about a show about aging hippie ladies fighting crime in San Fran?

They could call it The Maude Squad

Next thing you know, “One Day At A Time” will be coming back, with Valerie Bertinelli in the late Bonnie Franklin’s role as Mom.

That was pretty much the show in the last couple of season. The focus was on Barbara's household. BTW, One Day At A Time was rebooted on Netflix.

In the remake, Mel will be a transsexual hermaphrodite lesbian.

Why not reboot Maude? Screw that, I'd love to see a reboot of All in the Family and see if Archie Bunker can get away with saying today what he said back in the '70's...

------------------------ Are you kidding? From what I've heard he got away with saying, they would string him up! :)
