Maybe, but this writing may have been made with charcoal because it was made during one of the post-eruption excavations -- ancient, filled-in holes have been found in the past, where apparently the homeowners (or robbers?) returned, figured out where their homes had been, and made excavation to recover cash or other property, or more poignantly, to search for loved ones.
