It's at Primary time that you can pay attention to what they say.
Part of the problem of being registered Nonpartisan is that I don't get to vote in primaries. And why do I not change my voter registration? I'm disgusted with both Republicans and Democrats and their platforms. Republicans talk the talk, but can't walk the walk. Democrats want a form of socialism, with which I disagree. So I vote the person.

In states with open primaries, independents can vote in one primary or the other (but not both).
If your state is predominantly one party or the other, register with the dominant party, and vote against the candidate you find most offensive.
