I can see it happening...back in “69” (Thailand)
while driving in the middle the night,
I mistook a king cobra for a piece of fire hose....until it moved away.

I had a face to face encounter with a Thai King Cobra back in about 67.

The .45 going boom brought some late night excitement at the Thai Intelligence School. Our compound was within their area. It didn't take long for their mobile patrol jeep to inquire if we were under attack.

The cobra ended up on their dinner menu.

Another snake story.

In the 68 monsoon season I was walking home about 11:00 pm. The Soi was really dark as the power was out. I'm stepping over huge palm trees which had blown over. Shortly after stepping over one fairly large one I heard a rustle. Looking back I saw that last tree crawling off the soi. It was a BIG Boa.

I have other snake stories. Thailand 66 to 69 was an exciting time. And FWIW, Boa does taste like chicken.
