Referring to the hordes of immigrants marching toward the American border, a meme says the following:
Imagine if these people marched on their own government and demanded change instead of marching toward ours and demanding charity.
Is it fair to assume all immigrants want government handouts?
Of course not. But one thing is sure: Thats the message our government sends them. Come and get it!
For decades now, our government has done two things. One, we give handouts to everyone. More and more handouts all the time. Two, we indiscriminately let anyone and everyone into the country. If we didnt have the handouts, letting most people in would probably be fine. It would be like the immigrants who founded the country. But we dont get those kinds of immigrants any longer not totally because we dont select for them. The reason for that is our relatively unlimited and always growing welfare state.
Most Americans are still pretty well off. Most are middle class or better, and those who are not (the younger, for example) have a reasonably good expectation of becoming middle class or better in their lifetimes. So its hard for us to relate to the immigrant point-of-view. They come from countries that are authoritarian or totalitarian in nature. Countries like that do not grow economically. They stagnate or, in cases like Venezuela, they slide into despair despite the promise of great wealth that only capitalism could deliver.
The benefits our American government offers are small from the typical Americans perspective. But for people living in places like Venezuela and Mexcio, the prospect of free school, free groceries, open-ended welfare, and free medical care represents quite a rich prize indeed. Even if they come to America hoping not for handouts but for liberty, it stands to reason that most of them will succumb to the heroin-like tonic of freebies, especially given the poverty they have always known.
The socialistic Democrats and other statists in our country know this. And its precisely why they assign unearned guilt to people who protest the migrant caravan. Nobody wants to name the real issue. And the real issue is we have brought this on ourselves, by permitting our government to provide goods, services and freebies our Constitution never permitted.
Really?
It is not a caravan. It is a mob. English language dictionary.
Stop talking s**t on one of the good guys. He may have stated the obvious, but he stated it better than any of us pajama media could. He is a staunch lover of liberty and he is brilliant.
Check out his website sometime; you might just learn something.
You seem fond of him.
“Is it fair to assume all immigrants want government handouts?”
No but most all of these illegal aliens probably do because when they first started out and when interviewed they said it was for economic reasons but after marching for a while they get “educated”.
“by permitting our government to provide goods, services and freebies our Constitution never permitted”
This is the way the Founding Fathers tried to prevent it:
“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States”
Note, however, borrowing (and of selling off assets) had/has no such restrictions. And we are now about $21 trillion in debt.
“The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States”
The Article IV, Section 3 Congressional “power to dispose of” is the Constitutional power behind federal welfare funding. Congress diposes of its money (once yours) to the states and the states hand it out to individuals, families and social welfare institutions.
“Phrasal Verb: dispose of ....
“2. To give or transfer to someone else, especially permanently: She disposed of her estate among her heirs. He disposed of his memoirs to a research library.”

Amendment XVI gave Congress the power to levy income taxes without the restrictions of Article I, Section 8. That really made a really big federal welfare state possible.
It needs to be understood that our Constitution has defects.
Take a close look at the picture of the north bound mob.
If those were your immediate neighbors, would you work hard to build up wealth?
“we give handouts to everyone”
It takes 20 people paying $1,000 in tax to give Miss Babymaker and child $20,000.
The electoral politics of that is why Hillary’s white house isn’t in DC.
The Hondurans are coming for the US jobs Mexicans have already taken.
Perhaps Mexican leaders might want to send the mob back south.
