Tiger vs. Phil has turned into a clown show

Can you spare a couple of ultra-rich golfers twenty bucks?

Well, it’s actually just $19.99 for the pay per view and neither Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson will get that sum directly; the cable companies and the agents and the lawyers will get paid first, of course.

It’s officially dubbed “The Match” – actually it’s “Capitol One’s The Match” because why not make it sound as much like a college football bowl game as possible?

Mostly, though, it is a confusing event, something that sounded great in theory, still could be fun, but is more likely being marketed into a complete clown show.

No way I am paying $19.99 to watch two golfers way past their primes.

The Ryder Cup fiasco killed this match...

I love golf. I watch the golf channel, and a fair number of tournaments on tv.

I would never pay to watch this contrived event, even if it were two of the best, which Tiger and Phil are not.

Come to think of it, I wouldn’t pay more than I pay now to watch golf... and that’s a small premium on my cable package to get the golf channel.

Hey, I’d pay $19.95 to play a round of best ball with either Tiger or Phil.

Ten years ago it may have been interesting but I still would not pay to watch it. We got to see them both in match play at the Ryder cup, albeit they did not play against each other. Woods 0-4; Michelson, 0-2 benched. Hardly in their prime champions.

Woods is getting back to his game, Michelson has played better this year but far off his glory years. Match will have more to do with how their games fit the course then their abilities IMO.

That’s why we have choices. I hope they are ever taken away.

I was really looking forward to this, but zero chance I am paying to watch it. The ratings would have been huge on tv.

Exactly what is the viewer supposed to do while Tiger and Phil are strolling to their balls 300 yards away? There are no other players to go to while they are looking for their balls.

I guess the viewer will have sit through witty exchanges and stories of yesteryear from the entertaining commentators.

I'm a cyclist, and occasionally my ride takes me by a golf course. It's funny watching them laugh at me and the money I spent on my bike and gear, when they probably spent twice as much on their golfing gear.

Yep, clown show.

Tiger will need to control his farting. There are several videos of him in his glory days farting his guts outs while not on TV cameras. He and his then caddie Stevie would be laughing about it...

“Exactly what is the viewer supposed to do while Tiger and Phil are strolling to their balls 300 yards away? “

I’ll wait for the 1/2 hour show summarizing the round, with expert analysis.

I am a huge PGA fan, but I have no interest in this event. I don’t think I would have watched it for free.

The PGA could have spared us this nonsense by just pairing them next time they’re both playing. The Honda Classic could always use a little something to get more viewers. Put them together the first two days. Whoever makes the cut, wins. If both fail, the prize moves to the next tourney where they can be paired together again. For all I care, they can pair them together for the first two days of every minor tournament they both show up for. Stevie and Bones can cover it along with Johnny Miller.

If they're laughing, it's because of they're having a good time golfing. If you're laughing at them, it's because you haven't ridden far enough yet. And BTW, a really good set of clubs cost about $1,200. A really good bike costs $5,000 to way too much. Remember, they don't have to were spandex padded shorts when they golf.

This made me laugh!

I have a friend who is pretty crunchy, and bikes as a part of a healthy lifestyle. She’s 40+, and she took a header and now has five cracked ribs and a perforated lung.

Unless you live in the sticks, biking is dangerous, and mostly because of everybody else.

In fact, skydiving is likely more safe.

Watch me fall off the stair climber and break all my teeth now.
