That’s classy. Thanking people in a thankless job, it’s not much, but it’s a way of sharing humanity.
Exactly! My thoughts also.

Enforcing laws that take more money out of our pockets for more big government bull sh.t..
Now the “electronic” meters let the govt get paid TWICE for the same period of time, since the most recent parker can’t take advantage of the quarters’ worth of time the last sucker put in.
This thread and the responses belong on KOS.
I practice it whenever possible.
We need to do that sort of thing more for people in all walks of life.
Course it couldn’t hurt if at the same time we’re wearing MAGA hats or leet people know we’re Christian.
I am not wealthy. I always tip big.
Once, while working nights, I went for a midnight meal and saw a harried young woman waiting tables all alone. I counted 17 customers. They were yelling at her, and she was running ragged trying to keep up. Some pointedly stiffed her on a tip - because her bosses left their place understaffed. When it came my time, I thanked her, and left a big tip.
On another occasion, I took someone on a dinner date at a fancy rooftop restaurant with live entertainment. We took our time, and were waited on by a very old woman. She was attentive and responsive the whole time. I suspected she did not get huge tips since she was not young and beautiful. Since we kept her from other guest tips by staying, and because she was excellent, I left a very large tip. She amazed me by running out in the hall to thank me effusively as we waited for the elevator. I was stunned. I just said, “You earned it.”
Waitresses (ooh! sexist!) put up with a lot.
