It’s funny, when the Boomers went to college it was practically free,


Hard to believe but in 1964 I paid $90/semester in “fees” at the University of California system. Tuition was free. That’s not $90/hour, but $90 for a semester’s coursework. The state college system was at least half that, and community colleges charged no fees. (Of course California taxpayers were paying the bill).

When I went to college in the early 90s I could buy one textbook for $90, two if “badly used” was OK. Tuition at high-end schools was already north of $10k/year.
