Not really sure what you’re saying but the only other developed non 3rd world country that has the anchor baby loophole is Canada. I bet it gets closed right after ours does.
There are non-citizens who come here just to have their baby be born a U.S. citizen. Once the child is born, they apply and receive a U.S. passport for the child and fly back home to raise the new U.S. citizen. Some may stay, but some don’t.
That is what I was wondering. Anchor babies already with citizenship will probably get to remain so. Ex post facto would apply. I applaud Prez. Trump for his decision to do away with the anchor baby concept. What about all the Chinese women who come over here to give birth in fancy hospitals specifically built to allow their babies a 2nd American citizenship, too? It is a fatal flaw in immigration laws and should have done away with long ago. Theoretically, Bin Laden could have sent a pregnant wife over back in the day, and give birth to a U.S. citizen. Or any dictator could.
NOT kidding......this is the LAW.
Is there any other country that allows this?
Remember we are giving citizenship to babies of people who are here illegally. I know of no other country that does that. I am curious if others do.
Most countries take real pride in their country, their citizenship, history, and culture. When we do that we are called racist.
Canada does. We are the only two developed nations that do it and we really shouldn't be. The Amendment was not written clearly and certainly not for the purpose of non citizens making a citizen baby simply by having it here. They should be given a temporary birth certificate stating very plainly the child is not a citizen but it was born here on such and such a date and time. They can get the permanent BC as soon as they get home to their own country.
The problem is it doesn't work that way now. Hopefully this will be fixed and all births retroactive to the date Trump signs the EO are not citizens unless at least one parent is and can prove it.
I heard Canada is very strict about their borders though, I have heard they will allow most people in but they have to show who they are, where they are from, ETC, in other words enter legally.
Is that true?
If that is true it is not the same thing the US is doing. Here people can sneak in illegally and have a baby and that baby will be a citizen.
