Trump is brilliant. He knows full well that a federal circuit judge in Hawaii and or San Francisco will issue an order blocking his executive order. Probably the ninth circuit in Frisco.

This case will be fast tracked to the Supreme Court and put to bed with a good decision by our two new conservative judges. The right to citizenship will then be defined constitutionally.

I am not tired of winning!

Okay Mr. Plain Text, answer this for me: why is the clause "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" included in the 14th Amendment? I mean, if the 14th Amendment conveyed citizenship to anyone simply born here, that clause would not be necessary, would it?

When this goes to court, the order staying the action should be ignored.

If I go to a court for a speeding ticket, speed enforcement is not suspended until the case is resolved.

I think the no-children-of-illegal-immigrants clause of the 14th Amendment is right before the gay marriage clause and just after the abortion rights clause.

That’s Ryan’s personal opinion and he may even hold it honestly. OTOH, I am sure that Trump consulted with Justice Department lawyers and was told he is on firm constitutional ground.

It’s not really going to matter much in the short term. Liberal lawyers are going to be charging into the courts to file injunctions against the order before the ink is dry, and I’m positive they will get one, which means it’s going to have to go all the way up to the Supreme Court before any real decision is made, and that’s going to take a couple years, at least.

So, what is Trump really trying to accomplish here? Thoughts?

This will end up in the Supreme Court, but the correct reading of the Constitution will finally be enforced. Lindsey Graham’s bill could do it if Trump’s executive order does not.

Hell, Yes! Well worth a try. Of course the libturds and RINO’s will head straight to the 9th Circus Court, and get an immediate stay.
But, then POTUS can force the issue to the SCOTUS.
Let’s find out just how much of an originalist is Justice Kavanaugh...

14th Amendment starts out pretty clearly...

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
