It was a Thursday. My last work day of the week.

At that time, I was working 2-midnight. It was snowing lightly on my way in. By the time midnight rolled around, there were 10 inches on the ground and it was coming down about an inch an hour.

The 17 mile trip home would normally take about 25 minutes at that time of night.

Three and one half hours later, after snow blowing a 75 yard path to my vehicle, I was home and dry.

It continued to snow until over 28 inches of snow fell.

Finally, at 4 PM on Sunday, the plows got to us.

I'll never forget that one!

Enjoy the photos.

Two feet of snow?

Is that supposed to be unusual?

As you recall, it rained first. The ice was bonded to the roads for months. Washington Ave, by the Honey Bee gas station was like driving on a wash board.

That was one great storm. The blizzard we had last April, well, it just sucked.

Same in northern Iowa then. Worst was a week of zero degree weather that followed. Some towns were without power for a week!

my car was parked just like this guys....I shoveled 'this much' snow four times! They closed off the streets to traffic and all you heard were snowmobiles on the roads. You couldn't keep up with the rate it was falling..
