"Patel" is the most common Indian-expatriate surname, according to Wikipedia:
There are roughly 500,000 Patels outside India, including 150,000 in Britain and 150,000 in the US. Nearly 1 in 10 people of Indian origin in the US is a Patel.
The Patels of the U.S. are of Gujarati origin.

Along the Main St of my town are about 25 so-called “Traveler Hotels”. Stay by the day, week, month, what have you.
About 80% are owned by the Patel family the rest owned by another Indian named family I cant recall.
I think the name Patel is like Smith in the USA.
