Caravaners Throw Rocks, Molotov Cocktail at Surveillance Helicopter

Central Americans in the Caravan rioting on a river bridge pelt government surveillance helicopter with rocks.

They are clearly trying their hardest to strike the chopper.

At the 0:40 second mark, note the hooligan carrying a Molotov Cocktail low behind his hip, while trying to get a closer point of launch to the helicopter.

What goes up must come down. Keep that chopper just out of range and sent some caravaners to the ER

I don’t claim to be a Helicopter Guru but if “whatever” object comes in contact with a Main Rotor Blade or Tail Rotor Blade things probably aren’t going to come out well.

I worked for Bell Helicopter. One of our Mgrs. had a framed picture of a UH-1H Huey that had been shot through a main rotor blade, while in service in Viet Nam. ...It continued flying and made it back to base. ...The photo showed the pilot on a ladder below the hole in the rotor blade and his shoulders were above the blade. ...The hole was about 2x3 feet in size in the middle of the blade.

At the range of the pic at #9, a slingshot could probably get a rock to the rotors. Yes, it’s a low probability, but low probability times hundreds of rock throwers equals high probability of somebody getting lucky.
