Waters, who could be the next chair of the Financial Services Committee if Democrats win control of the House, drew applause as she noted that “most of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus will be chairs” of congressional committees following an election win.
.
.
“I will be the first African-American, the first woman to chair the powerful Financial Services Committee,” she continued.

“That’s all of Wall Street. That’s all the insurance companies, that’s all the banks. And so, of course, the CEOs of the banks now are saying, ‘What can we do to stop Maxine Waters because if she gets in she’s going to give us a bad time?’” Waters went on.

Pelosi became House Speaker in 06 on similar promises. The economic collapse followed shortly thereafter.

The collapse was inevitable. However:

Once the Democrats swept back into power in 2006, they fought to a stalemate all the Bush efforts to reform Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, promised to raise taxes and impose huge new regulatory burdens on our economy. Expectations are rational, and the overwhelming excess of the Reid/Pelosi Congress strangled the aspirations of our nation’s businesses, and the impending election of Barack Obama was too much for the markets to take; months before the 2008 election, the bottom fell out of the markets and our economy in direct anticipation of the economic horrors to come.

So no, Waters and her ilk did not cause the Great Recession, that was inevitable. But there was a somewhat bipartisan effort to make the aftermath as painfull as possible. We had the slowest economy recovery in history thanks to both the Democrats in power and the RINOs who went along with a combination of big bank bailouts and economic punishment for all businesses.

[Plenty about Fannie/FReddie]

GW Bush tried to rein in bad loans. His administration was shouted down as ‘racist’, so he caved. Maxine and her buddies were the ones who defended FAnnie/FReddie.

THAT was why Bush needed to leverage bad debt — to hide the impending crisis. The ROOT of the problem was the bad debt scheme.

Some RINOs were actually patriots who were ‘snake charmed’ by consultants. I don’t know which ones to trust yet, but if that many RINOs really were evil enough to deliberately harm the economy, then Trump would have been impeached and removed over ‘Golden Showers’.

I hope she is thoroughly investigated by everyone. She must have ‘business’ dealings outside of DC and California, hopefully in a state with an honest Attorney General.

You can only get away with that when people don’t shoot back.

There was bad debt all around. Your timeline paints McCain as some sort of hero. He was not, he competed with Obama in 2008 on how many new regulations to impose. Furthermore the timeline doesn't mention the huge number of liar loans bundled into securities. A bubble is a bubble. There's no way a bubble can nicely or slowly deflate, it must pop.

The bad loans were at the root as you say, but those bad loans were not just a couple government programs. The entire housing bubble, the refinancing for new granite kitchens, the flippers, the DC suburb tear-downs for $1,000,000, along eveerything in the timeline, were going to cause a crash. There was no way around a crash. Certainly nothing the inept McCain would have or could have done.

Dems are evil. RINOs are stupid. That's been true for decades.

Yes.

Loosing the house would be bad (we won’t) but not as awful as some think.

Loosing the house and senate would still need veto proof majorities to roll back what’s been done up to now.

None the less, VOTE VOTE VOTE!

You are right. The Dems greatest weakness is that they continue to show their true, ugly colors and normal, decent people don’t like what they’re seeing.

Maxine is old and getting older.

For her, it’s now or probably never. She’s paid her dues. Played the colored role. Earned her chairmanship

Alas..... she will not get her vindictive revenge on the man

Any Republican who doesn’t vote should be ashamed. And of all years, this is the year people should not vote third party.
