One town I lived in had their local bums break a store window after the homecoming game each year. Probably back in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

After the third time, the judge inquired as to "Why again?", and it came down to "3 hots and a cot" for the Winter.

The judge told them to just come to court next year, foregoing the window, and they'll work something out.

That was before "The Great Society".
