Im using safari and while others have noted this for the past day or so I have yet to see it. I think its browser specific
I think “dangerous” is how America-hating lefties describe sites that are hazardous to the mental health of liberal “prog” snowflakes.
FYI: A "Dangerous" site alert from Chrome came up while accessing this thread on FreeRepublic. This has never happened before (at least since 1998) ... Just thought everyone would want to know. I sent Google appropriate feedback on the warning. The text of the "red text" warning is reported below):
"This site is deceptive. Attackers on this site may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing your personal information (for example, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards)."
I guess it depends on what you post. Are you a flamethrower? Just kidding.
Use a different browser (or better yet a
virtual machine) for pr0n
Free Republic REALLY IS A dangerous site IF YOU POST SOMETHING STUPID. Freepers are merciless.
Got booted offline several hours ago. Happened while I was reading FR. I finally got back online, after rebooting my router five or six times, but FR is still giving me problems. Haven’t seen any messages that claim FR is a dangerous website, though. Overall, it’s been a very weird morning on the internet today!
same here for 3 days now...regardless of wifi location
Things will only intensify, solidify and steadily become worse if the Left takes over any more of government than they have now. They must be pushed back at the ballot box!
A lot of discussion about this on the last Q thread.
I was getting it until I stopped using Chrome or Firefox and started using only Brave. There are ways to stop it even on Chrome. It’s a google piece of crap attempt at censoring.
The Internet has long been shifting to HTTPS, which is secure SSL. They have for at least two years de-emphasized unsecure HTTP sites. Not surprising that they are now taking the next step to warn people off from unsecure sites. This is not political. If it is getting flagged, that means FR will now have to update its server. Not a big deal as much can be global find-and-replace. But it is time-consuming.
Do a search for SSL and HTTPS warnings in browsers. Lots of notices and discussions.
Got a similiar msg using opera about 3 days ago.
I’m using Firefox and no problem with it.
I tried Google Chrome and it came up just fine.
Same with IE.
No warnings.
Sounds like you need to scan it for malware and tracking cookies, followed by a reboot.
Also, clean your browser cache.
When I made a donation to Free Republic a couple days ago, Jim Rob's automatic email receipt was sent to “Junk Mail.”
First time that ever happened.
I have several FREE browser ad-on tools protecting me from stuff like this:
AdBlock Plus - ad blocker
Ghostery - tracker blocker
Web of Trust - website reputation and review service
I also use Private Internet Access as my Virtual Network Provider. Right now, anyone looking at my encrypted data stream would believe, from the IP address, I'm in Houston, which I'm not. Costs $40/year.
Nod32-Eset is my antivirus scanner. It does it's job anytime my computer is on. $32/year although when this year is done I'm switching to the free Bit Defender. More info monthly.
I have two other free tools, Malwarebytes and Adaware, which must be run manually. Their pay-for versions have full time protection and problem interception.
I heartily recommend any of these products.
When you see a line through the “https” that means there is a problem with the site certificate. The certificate may not be the problem : your computer itself may not be storing, reconciling or reading tee cert, or it may not be responding to the timestamp correctly.
Anyone using Chrome has earned the distinct award of hacking themselves. Give yourselves a special kind of Darwin award.
Google goes through extreme lengths to push the liberal agenda. And that includes finding ways to keep people from going to conservative websites. But most of all they are scared to crap of Q along with the rest of the leftist media. Anyone who falls for this trick is very gullible. And it sounds like the most recent versions of FireFox are a bit comped as well. I have read some bad things about the direction they are taking now. The left works hard to infiltrate everything. If it were not for the convictions of Jim Robinson then they would already own and control FR. Gramsci
