What does fabric softener due to the washing machine? I had heard it deteriorates fabrics. I started using vinegar long ago when I was figuring out prepping supplies. I practiced making my own detergent too. Used vinegar also, As well as in multiple other cleaning capacities. It is so much cheaper when you make your own!
But I hadnt thought of wear and tear on the machine either.

When he came he showed me that the softener didn't dissolve in the side dispenser and it was clogged through-out. He said since our water was so hard that pretty much only vinegar will help thin down soap and soften our clothes. So I use liquid Tide and save the container before the last. I pour almost half of the new in the old container and put vinegar in the new and old Tide and shake the two. He said our hard water made our washer work harder than it needs to. I buy vinegar by the gallons and use it for many things.
