I think one can only surmise that they believe James doesn’t have much of a chance. Whether that is right or wrong we will find out today.
Perhaps the polls show Stabenow very far ahead.
Good question. Companion question is why he did the rally in Tennessee. The answer to both is that weeks ago when these rallies were planned, Michigan didn’t look winnable, and Tennessee looked like it was in danger. Now Michigan looks possible, while Blackburn would probably win in Tennessee by 5-7 points without Trump coming. Even the President can be gaslighted by the media.
He needs to Minnesota and Michigan hard next time from beginning to end. Also maybe swing house race locations.

He goes where he will do the most good. There are lots of Trump supporters in MI but there are also a lot who are not. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for James.
Good question. I wondered the same thing. It seemed odd since MI, PA, OH, WI were the swing states in 2016 and MN was close.
Not from MI, but James was closing fast. I hope he wins - if he does, I can def see him as potential Presidential material.
Good question. John James could have used a boost from Trump. Could have held it in Detroit, and brought along Kanye West.
We don’t know what went on behind the scenes. Possible local campaigns wanted to avoid being tied too closely to the President. There’s plenty of RINOs in charge at the state and local levels.
He’s going to the places that are the biggest pick-ups or needed holds.
It isnt anything more elaborate than that.

My wife and I were voters 1 & 2 in long line — Red area Michigan. Looks like very heavy Rep turnout.
I’ve heard the president sing the praises of John James, and a visit to Michigan WAS on his list of stops. It did get removed, unfortunately, and a second visit to Florida was added. I guess he figured Florida was too close and they needed the help. I would love, love, love to see John James pull it off. He’s a joy to listen to.
Strategy. For every Republican A Trump rally convinces to go out and vote, a Democrat also votes as well. Trump is polarizing. So you hold rallies in red states to gin up turnout, which will favor Republicans. You don’t go to Michigan because it still leans blue. A rally would fire up Trump people, but it would also fire up Detroit. That’s why Trump holds rallies in Republican areas of Republican states.
Maybe there was some doubt how much it would help as Michigan is still a mostly blue state that is perhaps turning purple.

I’ve been praying for Trump to come here for weeks! James is a very strong candidate and could have easily taken down Stabenow with Trump’s RECENT (not April or August) visits to the state. So let’s ask God to intervene where Trump did not.
