Normally, I’d agree with scientists....however, there is one odd part to this story...the object left going away, at a higher rate of speed, than when it approached. There hasn’t been a decent explanation laid out on why.
I’d say slingshot effect.

If you notice in the above picture, the 'object' made a pass by the Sun.
This is the same MANEUVER that has been used for years by NASA. The spacecraft flies a circular path near a planet which CATAPULTS it to a higher speed. VOYAGER for example used several of these GRAVITY ASSIST MANEUVERS.
Just looking at its trajectory line alone almost disturbs me.
That thing didn’t just come here that way all on its own.
Natural or artificial, it’s an unknown that is eerie.
Gravity slingshot around the sun?
One of the other astronomy experts is a woman so, we must believe her.
Outgassing as ice melted. If it did so at closest approach, that’s a de-facto Gravity Well maneuver, aka a “slingshot”. . .
Ablation? The heating effect on the object caused it to lose mass. Comets do this when they form ‘tails’. Somebody would have to run the numbers though.
Took a look down here?
