I’d love to hear some commentary here by anyone with experience.

Last time I looked at the stats the average author using this program makes about $1000 per year. This is before expenses: Cover, formatting, editing. All told you can easily spend $5k chasing that $1000.
There are also hundreds of thousands of new titles put in this program every year. That’s a lot of competition.
