13% of Americans say they smoke marijuana, so basically a dead heat in admitted use. I never expected to see that.

Both my parents and all four of my grandparents died of smoking related diseases. I am clearly genetically predisposed to being harmed by smoking. Had I been born a generation earlier I would have likely been a smoker and probably dead or severely incapacitated by now. Plus, as a pathologist who has diagnosed numerous smoking related cancers I am cheered by this news.

“Cigarette Smoking In U.S. Reaches All-Time Low”

And all the liberal programs that get funded from cigarette taxes are hurting right now.

Watch them pivot to new revenue sources.

Once marijuana becomes legal nationwide, which is inevitable, this number will only go up. Fortunately few people smoke 20, or 40, or 60 joints a day, unlike tobacco cigarettes.

I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. And the only cigarettes I’ve ever picked-up are the butts thrown onto my lawn.

Given the silly price of a single pack of cigarettes nowadays, why would you want to smoke?

I went with my wife yesterday to Bohemian Rhapsody. One thing I noticed is the actors didn’t know how to hold a cigarette, didn’t look comfortable doing it. I’m not a smoker, never was, but it just looked off. Probably not a bad thing, though.

I quit the day after the 2016 election.

When Trump was elected, my stress level went down.

Plus I didn’t want to feed the beast with tobacco tax.

At least smokers can still function mentally. Eisenhower comes to mind.

I would love to see a map of areas where it’s now legal to smoke pot and cross correlate it with crime, homelessness, and voting patterns.

Tyrants LOVE an impaired population. It’s why the Japanese let the Chinese have all the opium they wanted. And they rarely mess with the crap themselves.

An estimated 34 million adults in the United States smoked cigarettes in the previous 30 days in 2017, which is down from 15.5 percent in 2016 and 67 percent less since 1965

That’s because they’ve switched to drugs and pot.

Trump should take credit, quote it with unemployment, and job numbers.

Being addicted to any substance is destructive - alcohol, tobacco, pot, pills ....and don’t forget food!!!

Obesity is a killer - look around and notice how huge the population is becoming.

I remember the olden days when almost everyone smoked, TV shows were supported by tobacco, Hospital waiting rooms were filled with smoke, airlines were filled with smoke and offered you free smokes with your meals. Dr’s offices filled with smoke. Cafes and cafeterias all filled with smoke.
Then in the late 1971 came the ban on TV advertisements, and in the 1970s and the 80s came product placement in movies. Ever wonder why so many smoked in the adventure movies in the 1980s AND 90S movies such as DIE HARD and BACKDRAFT?

Product placement.

Never got into the cigs, but I like a good cigar.

Also, a whiskey at the end of the day is nice, but I'm much more susceptible to hangovers as I get older. Mother Nature is telling me to go easy on the booze, and I'm sure my liver agrees.

Good. I’ve lost too many family members because they smoked like chimneys.

I guess we’ll have to increase tobacco subsidies so teh farmers can keep growing it.

I smoked 1 1/2 packs per day for 42 years, and quit 3 years ago.
