FULL TITLE: Trump threatens to withhold federal payments to California because it's forest management is 'so poor' as the state is ravaged by unrelenting wildfires President Donald Trump has threatened to withhold federal payments to California over 'gross mismanagement' of its forests as the state is ravaged by three massive wildfires.

In a 2am tweet, Trump wrote: 'There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor.

'Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!'

On Friday evening Trump issued an emergency declaration providing federal funds to help the thousands of firefighters struggling to contain the flames that have already torched more than 200 square miles across the state.

Now maybe California will start clearing the underbrush but I doubt it.

Or, maybe stop setting these fires in order to get the FEMA funds to pay their bills?

This could also be a template for getting votes on the Federal budget. Start with-holding Fed money for CA especially in the Dim congressional districts. He can always find a reason.

Trump needs to find his inner LBJ or he will end up like JFK.

Xavier Bercerra the Calif AG is going to run to the Commie’s favorite Hawaiian ‘judge’ to cry about the mean fascist Trump and try to get a ruling to overturn the decision

Seems like California gets “wild fires” in bunches. Can’t be one. But several conflagrations that divide resources and then converge into a super-fire. All that Federal and insurance money come pouring in. On top of laws that prevent clearing undergrowth. “Nature” works in mysterious ways...

Environmentalists pretend to want to protect forests but their policies result in giant forest fires that kill everything: trees, homes and people.

I’m glad Trump had the courage to call out this outrage.

One of the few occasions I have had to disagree with President Trump, and “Altura.” These present CA fires have absolutely NOTHING to do with forest management - nor even National Forest timber management as in northern CA, the Camp Fire is ALL upon private lands, miles from any National Forest and in southern CA, these are enormous BRUSH fields where one would be hard pressed to find timber of any kind. There may be issues here - but they are NOT timber management on the Nations Forests.

Howabout building some dams while they’re at it. How stupid for a place who desperately needs water for farming to just let rain water flow out to sea. Build dams and reservoirs. They can even be used for recreational purposes to make money.

Then when a fire does happen they have places for the planes to scoop water to drop on the fires.

I’ll bet that money went into the general fund to help the homeless and refugees (illegals).

These stupid rich folks take their losses with a grain of salt. They’ll build bigger and better....but could care less about the underlying problem.

Depends on the environmental impact of underbrush clearing no doubt. Might displace some kind of mouse that is now a crispy critter...

If the Malibu fire is still threatening Streisand’s place I’d volunteer to go out and fan the flames.

“the Camp Fire is ALL upon private lands...”

But as I understand it the Regime even forbids private land to be managed properly...such as clearing brush around your house. Any problems or disasters in California almost certainly have their genesis is some democrat government law/policy/regulation.

The fires are burning through subdivisions.

Houses and their yards need to get modified.

This might mean putting metal roofs and aluminum siding on houses.

Bushs and trees might be removed and gravel/crushed stone placed within 10 or even 20 feet of houses.

RE: "Environmentalists pretend to want to protect forests but their policies result in giant forest fires that kill everything: trees, homes and people."

I lived much of my life in the Sierras outside Lake Tahoe where we were raised to take care of the forest. We got cheap permits to cut dead and standing dead trees and were taught to clear green areas around our homes and plant lawns to act as a fire break.

In the late 70s and the 80s liberals began to buy up property and get involved in local government. They made laws against removing dead trees because they provided homes for small animals. They ruled that lawns were not native to the area. They blocked old logging roads that were used to access overgrown forests.

On my birthday in 2007 the Angora Fire destroyed my former home and over 250 others along with 60 businesses in less than 48 hours.

Of course, the liberals who made this possible will never be held responsible.

California I believe became known as the Golden State long ago because of the golden color of its abundant dry vegetation.

Cal Fire is in a tough spot. On one hand they want to control the amount of fuel available and, in some places do. On the other hand the natural state of things is a fire every 20-30 years. Cal Fire works with locals, to an extent, to determine just how much prevention to provide. Most of the high dollar events happen in chaparral and grassland areas which would require ugly preventive measures that many locales won’t accept. Environmentalists don’t want to disturb natural rhythms. The “regular” occasional fire is to be expected just like earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes. So is the president right to withhold funding to dumbasses who want it both ways?

What about all of the money Moonbeam has spent on his train to nowhere and yellow legged frog habitat research and restoration that could have been spent on supertankers and prevention?

I’m a natural born Californian and I say Go Trump!
