Victoria's Secret revealed why they don't cast transgender and plus-size models

On Thursday night, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid were just some of the models who walked the catwalk in their lingerie for the 2018 Victoria's Secret show.

While Victoria's Secret has previously praised themselves for championing diversity by including models of different ethnicities. The brand has faced heavy criticism for their frankly archaic view, when it comes to both plus-size and transgender models.

In a time when the likes of Tess Holliday and Ashley Graham have graced the covers of Cosmopolitan and Vogue. And Giuliana Farfalla and Valentina Sampaio made history with their Playboy and Vogue covers, you would think that Victoria's Secret would want to move with the times.

However, in a new interview, Chief Marketing Officer, Ed Razek, has revealed why the brand refuse to cast transgender and plus-size models in their shows.

In an interview with Vogue, Razek defended his "brand point of view" by first saying that he had considered putting both transgender and plus models in the show. However, he hadn't because,"we market who we sell to, and we don't market to the whole world".

Going on to defend his decision Razek said, "we attempted to do a television special for plus-sizes [in 2000]. No one had any interest in it, still don’t."

They all have some masculine traits, such as being tall, lacking natural curves, square jaws and chins.

plus size (fat) models, that’s why.

By today's standards, Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe would be plus size!

I’m glad to see at least one lingerie company not catering to the trannies and Orcas-I don’t care if they now supposed to be sexy now-my guy and my male friends and co-workers are totally turned off by overweight women and downright sickened by surgically altered men posing as women.

I’m a small size and really can’t afford to buy Victoria’s Secret stuff-and finding a cheaper brand of girly lingerie that isn’t made for a woman twice my size has led me to buy from the internet stores out of Hong kong, etc, where all the stuff for sale comes in my size-there are no large or larger sizes-cheaper, too-even for real silk-even out here in BFE I’m not the only woman who isn’t an Orca who buys from there-everyone has the internet, and buys stuff. It is only sensible that Victoria’s secret would not want to lose their market share by going PC instead of sticking to what they do best-selling sexy, girly stuff for small-to average REAL women to wear for the REAL men...

on the other end of the spectrum, I’ve seen some Amish women that had done so much hard work all their lives that they looked a bit masculine, unless you happen to like female body builders.

Of course their husbands were concrete walls

It seems so clearly straight forward. As he said, they market to a customer base, and they don’t market to the entire world.

This concept goes over the head of the liberals. To them, since they aren’t marketing to the entire world including transsexuals, this is discrimination.

They make products for women over 150lb. They carry size 16.

I resemble that remark, sir-I’m their size, but with more defined muscles- and I’d never touch a cheeseburger or anything else not organic, paleo and unprocessed. That said, I agree with the poster who said the models needed weight training-they do seem to lack healthy muscle mass-I maintain muscle mass with a physical job and a workout with weights and resistance training 3X per week-that is a healthy way to be and my guy likes the way I look...

My girlfriend in the late 90s was 180, curvy, and a knockout. Her favorite place to shop was Victoria’s Secret. Think of Cindy Crawford with an extra 15 pounds. Still hot.

They have plenty of clothing in stock for women larger than what they feature in their catalogs. You know, the smokin’ hot skinny chicks who are too hungry and tired to copulate.

But I get and respect that they don’t want Mamma Boo Boo in their catalog.

Why to models always look angry?

Because they’re hungry.

The blonde in the middle looks like she’s blowing a kiss. The brunette next to her looks like she’s saying, “Va fanculo, maiala!”

I do what I call 3 X 3 - 300 good carbs a day, 300g protein (which is usually about 240g) and that’s based on 1.2 - 1.7 X body weight (185) and 3000 calories / day.

Circuit train with free weights and cable machines 4-5 times a week until failure. I’m 60 - should have done this long ago. It’s addicting once you start looking and feeling powerful

Marilyn Monroe had a 22 inch waist. She would NOT be a plus size.

She weighed between 117 - 120 pounds all through her career and was 5'6", giving her a BMI of 19.4, which is on the low end of the normal range.

Her USO ID card from 1956:

I like women that burn the shoulders a lot and have some arm meat - muscle, not fat.

Jayne Mansfield was similar in size to Marilyn, but with a bigger chest. Same very narrow waist.

I had the pleasure of meeting a major owner of Victoria’s Secret (it was part of The Limited retailing company....)
and...
he was fond of saying that he’d someone gotten into
the one business which can actually charge MORE
for less merchandise (material)...

meaning that the skimpier undies sell for the highest prices

....he just only half-jokingly would then ask,
“anyone here got a better business plan than THAT!?”

nobody ever did.

smile smile smile smile smile
(anyway, he was very generous to charities)
