Fredette won't go away after scoring 75 points in China

Jimmer Fredette will never fail to be relevant. He's like the Tim Tebow of basketball, except instead of switching sports, he just switched countries. On Saturday, he dropped 75 points on some pretty ridiculous shooting numbers to go along with seven assists for the Shanghai Sharks. However, Pierre Jackson put an end to his celebration when he hit a game-winner for the Beijing Fly Dragons.

I remember all the Jimmer Fredette here when he was putting up gaudy numbers playing for BYU. He could not play defense so his NBA career was short but he seems to found success overseas in China where I imagine he is earning a lot of Yuan.

If Jimmer scores a huge number of points, and there’s nobody there to see it......

He should come back. Like baseball has given up on singles hitters and base stealers in favor of home run hitters, the NBA has given up on defense.........

Jimmer can’t guard the water fountain. Just let him stand at the offensive 3 point line and the other 4 on his team can guard on the other end.

I always thought basketball was the only sport where the level of excitement goes down as the level of competition goes up.

A three pointer by a 5'8" high school kid . . . really, really exciting! By a 6'1" college kid . . . still exciting. By a 7'2" NBA guy . . . ho hum.

I'd have to disagree - I love college basketball, but the NBA now is probably the best spectator sport for me - the athleticism and speed are unrivaled, and the fan engagement and excitement are a pleasure to experience. This is true for me both at Warriors games and at Kings games.

Jimmer is basketball’s perfect example of the Peter Principle. Scoring 75 in a game in China settles the matter.

Jimmer Fredette is still talked about here in Upstate NY. The newest star in the HS system Joe Girard III went to the same high school (Glens Falls) and has broken Jimmer's records.

He just signed with Syracuse.

Here they are together.

Joe Girard III works out with Glens Falls legend Jimmer Fredette
