Was it a mule?

Or a horse? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3705705/posts

A famer had an old mule, that was quite advanced in mule years.

One day, the old mule fell down into an old dried-up well on the property. The farmer could hear the mule braying, but when he looked down into the dark well, he sadly realized that there was no way he could get the mule out of that well.

So with tears in his eyes, he concluded that the most humane thing he could do was to buying the mule in the well.

The farmer grabbed a spade, and dumped a shovelful of dirt down the well. The mule loudly brayed, shook, and stomped his feet. He threw another load of dirt down the well, and the mule brayed, shook, and stomped his feet.

And the farmer was dumping dirt down the well, he noticed that the mule was getting closer to the top of the well... because as he was throwing dirt down, the mule was stomping on the rising pile of dirt, which was raising the mule up - getting him higher... until, soon, he was was at the top of the well, and the mule just stepped out into field!

The moral of the story: “Shake it off and step up!”
